Meg- Meg is very concerned with Charles' health and wellness. She is concerned because she thinks that he is having hallucinations. He told her that there were dragons in the twins' vegetable garden. At first Meg though he was delusional from all the beating he got at school. That was until she saw the dragon herself. Meg is also very concerned for her mother. She is concerned for her mother because she has been acting weirdly lately. She has been cross and stressed. Meg thinks it's because she is also worried for Charles.
Charles- Charles is starting 1st grade and is struggling a lot! Not with the work of course but with the people. Older kids keep beating him up and now his family is quite worried for him. He also is talking about dragons a little too much. He didn't even mention to Meg that Mrs. Murray had a doctor look at him that day. Charles is also a little too interested in mitochondria and farandolae. Mrs. Murray thinks that there is something wrong with Charles' farandolae and mitochondria. They think so because mitochondria is the thing that produces energy for the cell and he has been really tired lately. Mrs. Murray has also been studying a lot about farandolae and mitochondria lately for that reason.
Blajeny- Blajeny is supposedly the teacher for Meg, Calvin, Charles, and Proginoskes. One weird thing about his teaching is that he says he needs their help and he is going to teach them how they can help him. He has also given all of them except for Calvin an assignment. Meg and Proginoskes assignment is to be prepared for the three trials. Charles' assignment is to adapt to his new school and environment. Why did he not give Calvin an assignment though? I think he did not give Calvin an assignment because he does not know what Calvin needs to do. Another possibility is that Calvin is needed later after Meg, Proginoskes, and Charles' assignments are completed.
Proginoskes- Proginoskes is a cherubim. He has many different wings and eyes all over himself. He is thoughtful and assists Meg with many things. Proginoskes was sent to Earth to study with the teacher which is Blajeny. He has studied a lot before too and has even learned the names of the stars. he can also do something most people can't which is materialize! Chapter 4- In this chapter Meg wakes up and thinks that her encounter with Blajeny and Proginoskes was all a dream. Meg probably thinks it was a dream because she can't believe everything that has happened. To check she goes outiside and finds it wasn't a dream because she sees Proginoskes. She spills everything about Mr. Jenkins and how he appeared at her house. Proginoskes thinks that Mr. Jenkins is an Echthroi or a non namer. I think that Mr. Jenkins could be a problem in the future as well and may have something to do with Charles' farandolae and mitochondria problem. Proginoskes also suggests that they go to the elementary school to talk to Mr. Jenkins. Him being a echthroi could have something to do with why he was moved down to an elementary school level principle rather than the higher level he was before.
Chapter 5- Meg and Proginoskes are at Charles' school to speak with Mr. Jenkins. when they meet with him in the parking lot he has three figures of himself. Meg is foced to choose which one is the real Mr. Jenkins and not the Echthroi. Echthroi are un-namers or evil beings. I think that right now the Echthroi has taken over the real Mr. Jenkins so that it can get to Charles. I think it wants to get to Charles because of his knowledge and capabilities. He would try to get Charles now because Charles is so caught up in adapting to his new school. I think that is why Blajeny assigned Charles to adapt to his new school so he could get that over with and stop the Echthroi. Proginoskes says that her love for Charles is like how she should love Mr. Jenkins so she can name him which will get rid of the Echthroi or un-namer. Off that Proginoskes is also thinking about Xing himself or un-naming himself. Why would he want to do this? Meg is wondering the same thing and is trying to convince him not to. Then the three Mr. Jenkins come back up. They all are trying to convince Meg they are the real one. Personally, I think that Mr. Jenkins number one is the real Mr. Jenkins because he seemed like the only one who didn't act like it was a totally normal situation. He also looked like he knew nothing about the conversation and was very stunned. He even talked the least just like the real Mr. Jenkins would do because he isn't a chatterbox like how the other two "Mr. Jenkins" were acting
Chapter Six- In this chapter Meg is still trying to determine which one is the real Mr. Jenkins. Progonoskes is trying to tell her that the only way is to love him or name him. The one thing she remebered that was nice about Mr. Jenkins is when he bought Calvin shoes. At the time Calvin's family wasn't in the financial position to buy new shoes that would fit him. Progonoskes also says that if she doens't get which one of the Mr. Jenkinses is the real one he will X himself. She decides the real Mr. Jenkins is Mr. Jenkins number one......
This is a drawing of a cherubim. It is exactly how it was described in the book. I keep wondering though why does it have so many different eyes rather than just one type?
-Woah! that's a really cool picture Teckla, didn't it say in the beginning that a cherubim was a singular plural or something? as in, 1 GROUP of something. That's a really cool picture.... :D (Laura)
Chapter 7- In this chapter Mr. Jenkins thought the exact thing that Meg did after she met Progo and went to bed after. They both thought it was just a dream. Unfortunately for Mr. Jenkins it wasn't. I think that he thought it was all a dream because hsi last day was quite unbelievable and afterwards he fainted. After they go to Metro Ariston and that is known for changeing the sizing of things. Then they meet Sporos the farandolae. Next, they are planning to go into Charles mitochondria. I think that Charles gets tired a lot because of the problem with his mitochondria. Mitochondria produce energy in the cell so if his aren't working then that is why he is so tired.
Chapter 8- In this chapter they find that the next test/trial will inclde Sporos. I have noticed that Sporos is becoming more of a main character. I think he could be very important to the story or it could be like the Black Thing in Wrinkle in Time. It seemed like the Black Thing would be a main character but it ended up not being a main character. Sporos could also have something to do with the last theme good vs. evil. Anyways, they are inside Charles or the yadah. I think that the chapter ended quite oddly though. It said she was getting Xed! Maybe this is another assignment/test they could be giving her a choice as to whether she wants to X herself or not? I think that kything could also have a lot to do with the next tests as well.
Chapter 9- At the very end of the last chapter Meg was getting Xed. Luckily Progo was there and saved her by naming her. I think this could be another one of the tests except this one could be for Progo. I don't think that the tests are planned I think that they are just things that come along that are related to the studies. I think that Blajeny knew these things would be coming though. Then they are saying that the farandolae also saved Meg by attacking the Echthroi. Unfortuantely they Xed themselves afterwards. Why would they X themselves? I think that they Xed themselves because they would rather X themselves than be Xed by the Echthroi. They also think that one of the Echthroi Mr. Jenkins followed them. Now Meg must kythe with him and name him again to find the real Mr. Jenkins. She has success and yells out "I love you Mr. Jenkins" and reachs out for his hand. I think that this is quite a breakthrough for Meg and that now she will have a much easier time kything and naming things.
Chapter 10- After Meg just named Mr. Jenkins....again he was scared out of his mind. Now Mr. Jenkins is still trying hard to take all of this in. I would feel the same as Mr. Jenkins if I was in his shoes. Who would believe that they were inside a human beings mitochondria or that Echthros took over there body? Another thing I would do if I was Mr. Jenkins would be getting away from Meg and everyone so I would not be used to the advantage of the Echthros again! Unfortunately Mr. Jenkins is thinking the same thing. Now he thinks he isn't needed and that he should go back. Then they compared plant growth with farandolae. For plants if they are loved and cared for they grow amazingly same thing for farandolae because if they aren't loved/named then the Echthroi can move into them. I think that this is great for a fictional book but I do not think that plants actually grow when you love them. Next, Progo says that the next test is to name Sporos. At first this doesn't make sense because he is already named but they want him to deepen to create a balance among Charles' mitochondria.
Chapter 11- In this chapter the fara need to deepen to save Charles' mitochondria. Most of them aren't though and are dieing. This is causing Charles' mitochondria to not function correctly. They are also trying to get Sporos to deepen as well. They also find out that if Charles Wallace dies then they also die because they are currently inside his mitochondria. That is all because of the farandolae not deepening. Sporos is also another problem he will not come over to Senex to deepen and could cost Charles his life and even Sporos' life as well. I think that Sporos is making a mistake that is if he wants to keep his life because if Charles dies then Sporos dies. He dies because he is inside Charles.
Charles- Charles is starting 1st grade and is struggling a lot! Not with the work of course but with the people. Older kids keep beating him up and now his family is quite worried for him.
